Heat levels are rising across states in India, with temperatures becoming hard to endure in the North especially. Amidst the growing concern over the heatwave, actor Richa Chadha took to social media to slam elected leaders, seemingly for their lack of preparation to tackle the situation. "Make the elected leaders spend a night lying down on the divider under the open sky in this weather, without ACs without 50 car cavalcades. Or on a treeless promenade. They’ll know in a day what it feels like… if they survive," the actor wrote.
The actor has been actively sharing posts about tree felling and deforestation on social media. A post read, "In the national capital region of the hottest country on the planet, a huge native tree has been cut to fill the pockets of the greedy forest department." Quote-tweeting the post, Richa Chadha wrote, "Indians will have to protect every single tree now. Don’t become helpless bystanders in the spectacle of your own looming death."
Quote-tweeting another user's post about the large number of trees being cut, the actor added, "Name the people responsible for this mistake."
On the film front, Richa most recently served as a producer on writer-director Shuchi Talati's Girls Will Be Girls, starring Preeti Panigrahi, Kani Kusruti, and Kesav Binoy Kiron. The film received critical acclaim and won multiple awards, including the World Cinema Dramatic (Audience) at 2024 Sundance Film Festival. As an actor, her most recent work is Heeramandi, which marked Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series debut. Her upcoming projects include the long-delayed Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai, directed by Anubhav Sinha. Reportedly, she is also set to play a detective in a web series, which comes in the crime thriller genre.
