Late actor Mohan Makijany, popularly known by his stage name Mac Mohan, will get a documentary soon titled Discovering Sambha. Titled after an iconic role in the classic Sholay, the documentary is directed by the actor's daughter Manjari Makijany. Made as an India-Australia co-production, the film was officially unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.

Reports state that Discovering Sambha's production would begin later this year with a release targeted for 2027. The film, according to the makers, would draw on archival materials, recollections from family, and reflections from collections. The documentary is also expected to explore themes such as legacy and identity.

Speaking about the documentary, Manjari described its making as a "cathartic process of filmmaking". She says that through the film, she, as a daughter, is attempting to piece together "memories, absences, and emotion" that shaped her and her sister. Calling her father someone more than Sambha, as popularly known to the world, she says she is still making a discovery of her father through people who knew him before her.

Mac Mohan, in an illustrious career spanning over five decades, has worked on over 280 films. His notable projects are Don, Karz, Zanjeer, Shaan, Khoon Pasina, Khuddar, and Satte Pe Satta.
