While Dhurandhar 2 has now begun streaming outside India, on Netflix, the film’s streaming premiere date for India remained uncertain and unconfirmed for the longest time. According to many reports, the Dhurandhar team were waiting for IPL season to end before they release their film on OTT in India.
However, on Friday morning, JioHotstar updated Dhurandhar 2’s online listing on their platform, by mentioning June 4 as the India streaming premiere date.
While the theatrical version of Dhurandhar 2 was 3 hours 49 minutes long, the OTT cut will be 3 minutes longer. The June 4 streaming premiere will have a version with 3 hours 52 minutes duration.
Besides Hindi, the film will be available for streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 broke multiple box office records over its successful 8-week run at the box office. Most importantly, the film crossed the worldwide lifetime figures of films like Pushpa 2 and Baahubali 2, to become the highest grossing Indian film worldwide. The only film it stays behind is Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which had the additional advantage of releasing in China. According to Sacnilk, Dhurandhar 2’s lifetime figures currently stand at Rs 1796 crore.
Besides Ranveer Singh, the film boasted a massive ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and many more. Most notably, the film resurrected the career of veteran Rakesh Bedi, who now enjoys a renewed fanbase among new generation of film lovers.
