The official trailer of the upcoming Sanjay Dutt starrer Aakhri Sawal was released on Friday. Mounted as a hard-hitting political drama, the film promises to address some of the most burning topics of contemporary Indian history, including the advent and core ideology of RSS, the Babri demolition, the 1975 Emergency, the assasination of Mahatma Gandhi and more.

In the film, Sanjay Dutt plays Gopal Nadkarni, a professor and an RSS-supporter who has been long attacked by left-wing about his affiliation with the organisation and its alleged involvement in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. After a lot of deliberation, Gopal finally decides to address the subject, debating Vicky (Namashi Chakraborty), his protege who is also his staunchest critic, on live television.

Directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang, Aakhri Sawal additionally features Amit Sadh, Neetu Chandra, Tridha Choudhary, and Sameera Reddy in the lead cast.  Besides headlining the film, Sanjay Dutt is also on board as a producer. The ensemble cast includes Mrinal Kulkarni, Harsiman Oberoi, Rocky Raina, Archana Iyer, Bipin Nadkarni. Nikhil Nanda, who is producing the film with Sanjay Dutt, will be seen in a special appearance as MS Golwalkar. 

Utkarsh Naithani is the scriptwriter. Monty Sharma has composed music for the film. The technical team includes cinematographer Stanley Mudda, editor Sanjay Sankla and production designer Keshav Thakur.

Aakhri Sawal is being produced under the banner of Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures and presented by Neem Tree Entertainment. The film was earlier scheduled to release on May 8, before being postponed due to censorship clearance issues for its trailer.

The film will now arrive in theatres on May 15, clashing against Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.
