While Dhurandhar 2 has been received with open arms at the box office, some film-goers were also upset with the arbitrary censorship decisions made in the film, including muting some abusive words while retaining others. Now, actor-filmmaker Deepak Tijori has spoken up about the same.
Expressing his concern about the arbitrary Dhurandhar 2 censorship in a social media post, Deepak wrote, “Why mute half the abuses and let the other half stay? At places, keep some and fully mute some? Especially when the film is already certified 18+, which clearly means it’s meant for adults. So who exactly are we protecting here? And from what… half a word?”
The Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander actor also pointed out the futility of theatrical censorship in the age of OTT consumption. “And then comes the part that really confuses me. The same film, within a month or two, releases on OTT… completely unmuted… exactly as it was meant to be. And that’s where kids end up watching it… at home… sitting with family… with everything fully audible,” he added.
We had earlier reported about the 21 cuts and changes that Dhurandhar 2 team were asked to make before getting certificate for a theatrical release. Besides being asked to mute abusive language in certain places, the Dhurandhar 2 were also asked to trim some visuals of graphic violence.
Meanwhile, the Aditya Dhar directorial continues to break records on an unprecedented run at the box office. As of on Thursday, March 26, the film broke the record for highest day-8 collections, previously held by its predecessor Dhurandhar (2025), garnering more than Rs 45 crore nett.
