Sanjay Kapoor, who began his second innings in cinema with the 2015 film Shaandaar, was recently seen in the Prakash Jha directed OTT series Sankalp, which premiered on March 11. The actor recently spoke about his working experience with Prakash Jha.
In an official statement, Sanjay said, “One of the reasons Nana Patekar’s character gets backstabbed in the series is my character. When you watch it, you will understand.” Further expressing his delight at being considered for the part, Sanjay stated, “Most importantly, when Prakash ji called me for this role and narrated part of the story, that itself was such a happy moment for me. The fact that Prakash ji considered me for this show, and for me that was enough. As that phrase goes in English, it was on my bucket list to work with Prakash Jha. The way I know and perceived him, I never thought I would get a chance to work with him. It's been an honour.”
At its core, Sankalp is the story of loyalty, ideology, and influence, exploring the battle between an educator Ma’at Saab (Nana Patekar) who controls the system through his bureaucratic protégés, In the series, Sanjay Kapoor plays the role of chief minister Prashanth Singh who shares a messy history with Ma’at Saab as their paths cross again many years later in their clashing political goals.
Created by Reshu Nath, Sankalp marked OTT debut for Nana Patekar. The political thriller additionally starred Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Neeraj Kabi, Kubbra Sait, Kranti Prakash Jha, Meghna Malik in the lead cast. In our review for the show, we noted, “Of course, a big-scale narrative like this would have many players; but after a point, it becomes too convoluted for its own sake, busy being indulgent while the viewer gets distant.
