We had earlier reported about Salman Khan starrer Battle of Galwan receiving criticism from Chinese experts over fact-distortion and historical accuracy. Now, in a surprising update, the makers have decided to give a new title for their film — Battle of Galwan is now Maatrubhumi.
The reasons for the title change aren’t clear yet, though. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi is based on the 2020 India-China conflict on the Galwan Valley and on excerpts from Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book India’s Most Fearless 3. Interestingly, the film borrows its new title from one of its songs, which is sung by Arijit Singh and features Salman and Chitrangada Singh in the video. The new title also carries the tagline, “May war rest is peace.”
The film’s release has been postponed multiple times. The film was earlier scheduled to release in April, before the team decided to delay the release, to avoid any clash with Akshay Kumar starrer Bhooth Bangla, postponing the release to Independence day weekend this year. Even with the new title announcement post, the makers haven’t confirmed any release window.
Salma Khan is producing Battle of Galwan, which Salman is presenting under his eponymous banner. Himesh Reshammiya is composing music for the film.
