The casting for biopic of legendary screen icon Madhubala, that was announced a few years ago, has been a subject of constant speculation ever since. The film, being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was reportedly being offered to Kiara Advani. On Tuesday, the reports of Saiyaara star Aneet Padda being cast as the lead began circulating.
However, according to industry sources, the news of Aneet being chosen for Madhubala biopic is false. “There is absolutely no truth to the reports currently circulating about Aneet Padda being cast in a Madhubala biopic. The claims are completely baseless,” the source said.
Jasmeet K Reen, who helmed direction for Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings, has been signed to helm the Madhubala biopic. More details about the leading cast and crew are yet to be announced. The film was announced exactly two years ago, with a different production banner backing the project in association with Madhubala's relatives, however.
Meanwhile, Aneet will begin shooting for Shakti Shalini, which is part of Maddock Films' Horror Universe, very soon.
Madhubala, who began her career as a child artist in early 1940s, emerged as one of the most popular female actors of the Black-and-White era of Hindi cinema, with her work in films like Mr and Mrs 55, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Howrah Bridge, Kaala Bazaar and Mughal e Azam. However, the actor was unfortunately diagnosed with congenital heart disease at the prime of her career. She passes away in 1969, at the age of 36.
