Kareena Kapoor Khan, who completes 26 years in the industry this year, had a major turning point with Jab We Met in 2007. However, Tashan, her follow-up film to JWM, emerged as a box office failure. In a recent interview, Kareena Kapoor recalled how the box office failure of Tashan was a major setback for her.
Speaking to Hollywood Reporter India, Kareena said, “Tashan’s failure really broke my heart. Everyone was giving their best. They were coming to the film right after a hit. They had given big blockbusters. Everyone’s energy was on another level. They wanted to look their best, and everyone thought their part was best. I thought it would be amazing.”
At the same time, the actor expressed her confidence in the film’s endurance. “I feel like if they released Tashan now, it would be work. But it remains one of my favourite films,” she added.
Incidentally, Kareena never worked in a Yash Raj production later on in her career.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who was making his directorial debut, Tashan also starred Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Anil Kapoor in the lead cast. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the action-caper was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 31 crores.
