Recently, we reported about the BAFTA-winning film Boong and the Parineeti Chopra-Sidharth Malhotra starrer Hasee Toh Phasee being slated to release in theatres again this March. Joining both films in the post-Holi season is Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, directed by Luv Ranjan and starring Kartik Aaryan. Announcing the news earlier this Tuesday, Kartik wrote, "This Friday... Relive the laughter and emotions once again on the big screen! Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety re-releases in theatres on 6th March!"
Also starring Sunny Singh and Nushrratt Bharuccha in important roles, the film originally hit theatres in 2018, and it is considered an important project in Kartik's career. Its success played a part in the actor getting provided with opportunities in other films.
The plot follows Kartik's Sonu Sharma and Sunny's Titu Sharma, whose friendship is threatened by a romantic relationship. The film proved a commercial success upon its initial release thanks to its combination of comedy, drama, and catchy tunes.
According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, it earned a net collection of 156.46 crore from theatres worldwide and ran for over 50 days. In India alone, the film minted a net collection of 108.95 crore at the box office. May 06 offers a chance to audiences to revisit the film and to new audiences to discover it for the first time.
Kartik recently starred in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, opposite Ananya Panday. However, the film proved a box office failure, collecting a net collection of 49.5 crore at the global box office.
The actor's upcoming films include the horror-comedy Naagzilla, with Dharma Productions backing it, and a yet-to-be-titled Anurag Basu directorial also starring Sreeleela.
