Samay Raina's reality show India's Got Latent will return for a second season on Netflix. The first season released in 2024, and was hosted on Samay's YouTube channel.
Based on the Got Talent franchise and Tony Hinchcliffe's Kill Tony, the series is hosted by Samay and featured contestants who would perform their acts, which would would then be evaluated by a panel of judges. If the rating of the judges, matched the ratings given by the contestant for themselves, then the contestant won.
The first season of the show was mired in legal troubles after some remarks from the show found backlash. In an episode featuring podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia (known by his online handle BeerBiceps), influencer Apoorva Mukhija (known by her online handle TheRebelKid), and comedian Jaspreet Singh, Ranveer's question to one of the contestants faced strong backlash for 'promoting obscenity'.
This led to FIRs being filed against Samay and Ranveer, and subsequently the stoppage of the show. Ranveer's podcast, The Ranveer Show, had also ordered to stop in regards to the legal proceedings. The podcast was allowed to resume after an appeal from Ranveer.
Apoorva later revealed that she had received rape threats after the backlash began.
Later, Samay returned with a comedy special Still Alive, where he recounted his experience in dealing with the backlash. He also made an appearance in Kapil Sharma's The Great Kapil Show, along with Ranveer.
A release date for the second season of India's Got Latent hasn't been announced.
