Richa Chadha, who turned producer with the acclaimed 2024 film Girls Will Be Girls, is now set to expand her journey with a new non-fiction series under her banner Pushing Buttons Studios. The series, titled Musafiri, will premiere on YouTube in August this year.
Mounted as a travel-based series, Musafiri promises to blend travel, culture and conversations, as Richa herself will be seen exploring different destinations while uncovering the stories, history, traditions and people that make each place unique. More than just a travel series, Musafiri aims to educate, entertain and offer viewers a fresh perspective through the eyes of a curious traveller.
Speaking about the series, Richa Chadha said, "Travel has always given me a chance to pause, observe and learn. With Musafiri, I wanted to create something that goes beyond ticking places off a map. Every destination has its own rhythm, history, and people that often don't find enough space in conventional travel content. This series is about slowing down and experiencing those layers. I hope viewers come away not just with ideas for their next trip, but with a deeper appreciation of the places we visit and the communities that make them special.”
Further talking about the series and her goal as a producer, Richa noted, “I enjoy backing stories that offer something meaningful, and Musafiri reflects that intention. I'm excited to finally share this journey with everyone and can't wait for audiences to travel with us."
Girls Will Be Girls, which featured Preeti Panigrahi and Kani Kusruti in the lead roles, premiered at Sundance and won the Independent Spirit Award that year.The film is currency streaming on Prime Video.
Richa Chadha, who completes 18 years in the industry this year, was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi (2024).
