The title announcement teaser of Chauhaan, the upcoming Ajay Devgn starrer actioner, was unveiled online a few weeks ago, receiving polarised reactions on social media. A certain section of netizens also criticised the teaser for its insensitive depiction of police action and crowd control.

Among others, film lovers also criticised Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, who lent a voiceover for the teaser, for being part of the project. While the voiceover was quietly removed from the teaser a few days ago, Mohd Zeeshan has now issued an official statement on the controversy.

Taking to his X page, Zeeshan penned, “Few weeks back, a film teaser released with the opening line in my voice. I wish to put on record that I am not part of the film in any capacity.”

The actor also clarified that he was asked to a dub a line, without being given any context. He added, “I did that in good faith without asking for more as I knew the makers personally.  As soon as the teaser was released and I saw the context in which it was (mis)used, I asked the filmmakers to remove my voice from the teaser as I have nothing to do with the film.” The makers of Chauhaan eventually removed Zeeshan’s voiceover on July 6.

Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub concluded his post by reassuring his fans and followers that he would never willingly be part of such a project, while also extending solidarity to the young students who took part in Jantar Mantar protests for the past many days.
