Saif Ali Khan, who was recently seen in the Netflix film Kartavya, has another release coming up with Haiwaan, the Priydarshan directed action-thriller which also stars Akshay Kumar in the lead. The actor will be seen playing a visually disabled character while in an action avatar. Recently, Saif spoke about the thrills and challenges of his role in Haiwaan.

In an official statement, Saif said, “It’s one of the most amazing roles I’ve been offered because it’s such a sympathetic character. In my head, I get to play an Indian version of a blind samurai. How cool is that? He’s blind, but he’s specially-abled. It was fascinating to find the physicality of that without making it look exaggerated. More importantly, it’s a character written for the audience to genuinely feel for, which I haven’t really had much of, for whatever reason. I’m really happy I got this role.”

Talking about working with Priyadarshan, Saif said, “Working with Priyadarshan sir was amazing. It reminded me of Clint Eastwood. Very economical and absolutely sure of what he wanted. We rarely did more than one take. I like doing a few takes, but you adapt to whoever you’re working with. It was interesting to be completely ready for that very first take, and somehow it really worked.”

Haiwaan: Akshay Kumar looks evil, Saif Ali Khan is mysterious in first posters from Priyadarshan’s thriller

An official adaptation of the acclaimed 2016 Malayalam movie Oppam, Haiwaan marks the first collaboration between Saif Ali Khan and Priyadarshan. The film also reunites Saif with Akshay Kumar after 18 years. The two collaborated on many popular movies in the 90s like Yeh Dillagi, Keemat, and Main Khiladi Tu Anari. They were last seen together in Tashan (2008).

The first look posters of Haiwaan, released 3 days ago, have been received very well on social media, for its striking use of colours and old-school stylised imagery.

Haiwaan is set to release on September 11.
