Actor Aditya Rawal who will next be seen essaying a role of a drug addict who is suspected to be a serial killer in the upcoming psychological crime-thriller series Daldal recently said that he hesitated before saying yes to the character as he felt it to be “uncomfortable” and “emotionally demanding.”
Revealing how his initial hesitation became the clearest sign that the role was worth taking on, Aditya Rawal shares, “I’ll be honest, there was a moment of hesitation. Daldal is dark, uncomfortable, and emotionally demanding, and I wasn’t sure at first if I was ready to go that far.
“But when Amrit (director Amrita Raj Gupta) narrated the story, it stayed with me. I went home thinking that opportunities like this don’t come often, where characters that genuinely scare you and force you to understand parts of the world you haven’t yet. It turned out to be the most difficult character I’ve played so far, but also the most rewarding,” he added.
Daldal features Bhumi Pednekar in the lead and she plays DCP Rita Ferreira, who becomes an active investigator for a brutal killing that takes place in Mumbai. However, Rita’s involvement in this case is more personal as it also takes her back to her past that is riddled with trauma and emotional baggage. The series also stars Samara Tijori.
Daldal is created by Suresh Triveni, who has written the show in association with Sreekanth Agneeaswaran, Rohan D'souza, and Priya Saggi. Amrit Raj Gupta helms direction for the series. Suresh is also a co-producer for the film, bankrolling the project with Vikram Malhotra under Abunduntia Entertainment banner.
