Earlier, we reported about Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound failing to secure a nomination for a Best International Feature Film Oscar. The nominees comprise The Secret Agent (Brazil), It Was Just an Accident (France), Sentimental Value (Norway), Sirât (Spain), and The Voice of Hind Rajab (Tunisia). Subsequent to his film missing the cut for the award, actor Vishal Jethwa took to social media to share his reaction to the news. While the actor acknowledged that the news "broke the hope we carried with us," he also underscored how the film made an earnest effort to break India's longstanding Oscar nomination jinx. "I believe failure is not when you fail; it's when you don't try. And the only thing the whole Homebound team did from the very first day was to just TRY."
Vishal also expressed his sense of pride at the Neeraj Ghaywan directorial making the 15-film shortlist for the Oscar award. "I am fully satisfied with what we were able to do, having our name associated with the prestigious name called the prestigious name called the Oscars, It's more than what I ever imagined, desired or deserved."
The actor also expressed his gratitude to director Neeraj, producer Karan Johar, and casting director Jogi Mallang. He shared his respect and love to his co-stars, Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, and the rest of the team. The film was considered to have a good chance of making the five-film nominee list, thanks to its quality and the association of Martin Scorsese with it as an executive producer.
