The official teaser of the much-delayed Mayasabha: The Hall of Illusion was finally unveiled on Wednesday. Starring Javed Jaaferi in the lead role, Mayasabha is written and directed by Rahi Anil Barve, who is knon as the writer-director of Tumbbad, a fantasy-horror that has acquired a cult status in last 8 years.
The Mayasabha teaser is underlined with a haunting voiceover by Jaaved , who quotes a verse by Kabir, that talk the underestimated powers of clay and everything that might look vulnerable but holds mysterious forces within. By the looks of it, Javed plays an enigmatic and mysterious host who has assembled a team to carry out a heist.
The teaser also ends with a haunting line by Jaaved Jaaferi’s character who says, “Smile is the deadliest weapon in the world.” Tumbbad child artist Mohd Samad will promisingly feature in a major role in the film, accompanied by actors like Veena Jamkar and Deepak Damle.
The visuals of Mayasabha teaser are strikingly original, carrying a sense of fantasy and dystopia-like world building to them. Key technicians include Kuldeep Mamania as the cinematographer, Preetam Rai as the production designer, and Soheil Sanwari as the sound designer. Sagar Desai has composed the background score, and costumes are by Shriti Banerjee. Aasif Pathan is the editor. In a rare initiative, the makers of Mayasabha have also credited its teaser and trailer editor, Priyank Yadav.
Mayasabha is produced by Girish Patel and Ankoor J Singh, while Sameer Dixit and Rishikesh Bhirangi of Pickle Entertainment are onboard as presenters. The film is set for a theatrical release on January 30.
Mayasabha also promises to showcase Jaaved in a never-seen-before avatar, capturing his rarely-explored intensity and dark side. Jaaved, who is largely known for his light-hearted roles, was recently seen in Ajay Devgn-Rakul Preet Singh starrer De De Pyaar De 2.
