Actor-singer Prashant Tamang passed away in Delhi on Sunday morning after suffering a stroke. He was 43 years old.
Prashant Tamang, who hailed from Darjeeling, first rose to limelight in 2006 after he won the 3rd season of popular reality show Indian Idol. After winning the series, Prashanth launched his first major music album Dhanyavad. Additionally, he also acted in a few Nepali films in the 2010s.
Many years later, Prashant Tamang gained a new level of popularity with his appearance in the crime-drama series Paatal Lok. He played the role of Daniel Acho in the series.
Condolences have been pouring in since the news was confirmed on Sunday morning. Raju Bista, Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and National Spokesperson of BJP, offered his condolences, stating, "The untimely demise of Prashant Tamang, the popular singer and actor, has left the Gorkha community, along with the entire world of arts and music, stunned and heartbroken."
The news of Prashant Tamang’s demise comes with a strange twist of irony. In 2013, Sandeep Acharya, the winner of Indian Idol 2, too died at a young age.
