On Monday, the makers of The Kerala Story announced the release date of the official sequel. Titled as Beyond The Kerala Story, the film will hit theatres on February 27 this year.
Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the Sunshine Pictures banner, Beyond the Kerala Story is directed by National Award winner Kamakhya Narayan Singh. Meanwhile, Aashin A Shah serves as the co-producer.
The makers also shared a motion poster, which carries the text caption, “They said it was just a story. They tried to silence it. They tried to discredit it. But the truth didn’t stop. Because some stories don’t end. This time, it goes deeper. This time, it hurts more. Beyond The Kerala Story.” Beyond The Kerala Story promises to be yet another hard-hitting narrative, only bigger both in terms of storytelling and scale. This film promises to capture stories that go beyond the borders of Kerala. Just like its predecessor, this film too promises to introduce a new cast to the audience.
The Kerala Story, which released in 2023, emerged as a major box office hit and also generated strong discourses on social media with its exploration of a hard-hitting subject. Later that year, the film also won two National Awards — for best direction and best cinematography.
Kamakhya Narayan Singh has previously directed the National Award winning short film Justice delayed But Delivered, among a few other TV series and short films.
