Actors Siddhant Chaturvedi and Alizeh Agnihotri are set to collaborate on a new film which will be a remake of the French-Belgian movie La Famille Bélier (2014).
According to a report by PTI, the film will be directed by Vikas Bahl. "It's a beautiful film. It’s a remake of a French film La Famille Bélier, which was remade as CODA, and it won at the Oscars. It's a musical, it’s in the space of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Khamoshi. We’ve taken it from the original French film," revealed a source close to the project.
La Famille Bélier, directed by Éric Lartigau, is a coming-of-age comedy-musical film which received six nominations at the 40th César Awards. The critically acclaimed film was remade in English as CODA and premiered in January 2021, and won three Academy Awards at the 94th Oscars, including Best Picture.
The film revolves around Paula, the only hearing member of a deaf family running a dairy farm, who serves as their vital interpreter until her music teacher discovers her talent for singing, forcing her to choose between pursuing a prestigious music scholarship in Paris and staying to help her family, who rely heavily on her.
The upcoming Hindi remake is expected to go on floors between June to August.
Last seen in Dhadak 2, Siddhant Chaturvedi also has filmmaker V Shantaram's biopic which is in production. Apart from these, he also has a family entertainer Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling, directed by Bahl and co-starring Jaya Bachchan and Wamiqa Gabbi, and Do Deewane Seher Mein where he will share screen space with Mrunal Thakur.
Alizeh made her acting debut with Farrey, released in 2023.
