February 7 marks the completion of 1 year of Mrs, the Sanya Malhotra starrer drama which began streaming on ZEE5. Marking the occasion, Sanya penned a brief but heartfelt note about being part of the film, and it’s impact on her life as an actor.

Taking to her Instagram page, Sanya penned, “It’s been a year since Mrs released, and every time someone tells me how deeply the film moved them it stays with me long after the conversation ends. I may not always have the right words but as a performer I carry these stories with me.”

Further speaking about how the film made her more responsible as an artist, Sanya added, “I promise to keep learning, listening, unlearning, to represent women more honestly and responsibly on screen. Thank you so much for watching, sharing and loving Mrs.” Sanya also shared a BTS video of the film, where she can be seen swaying away to a retro song which was used in the film.

The Dangal actor also interacted with her director Arati Kadav and writer-producer Harman Baweja in an online interaction on Saturday, recollecting the memories and process of making the film. During the interaction, both Arati and Harman recalled how Sanya was the first and only choice for the protagonist. “We weaved the entire script around her,” Arati added.

Mrs was an official adaptation of The Great Indian Kitchen, the 2021 film which starred Nimisha Sajayan in the lead. While receiving mixed reviews overall, the film initiated a strong discourse online, with its depiction of an average Indian homemaker in a conservative household, and strong commentary on patriarchy.

Sanya was last seen in Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari, which released in October last year. The actor has Anurag Kashyap's Bandar in pipeline, which stars Bobby Deol in the lead.
