After Race 3 (2018), the third instalment of the Race franchise that starred Salman Khan, there were a lot of speculations about the next leading man to take the series ahead. Now, in a surprising development, reports are coming in about Aamir Khan planning to onboard the Race franchise.
According to a Filmfare report, Aamir Khan recently heard a script narration for Race 4, and gave his go-ahead to the makers. While nothing has been confirmed as yet, the Laal Singh Chaddha actor is also keen to bring in Dhoom 3 filmmaker Vijay Krishna Acharya for the project.
If the reports are true, Race 4 would mark the third collaboration between Aamri and Vijay, after Dhoom 3 and Thugs of Hindostan. While Dhoom 3 was a massive hit with mixed reviews, Thugs of Hindostan was a major failure at the box office, despite a massive star cast and big scale production values.
Meanwhile, according to another reports, the producers of Race 4 are also in talks with Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff for key roles in the film, which will take a new direction for the franchise.
Aamir Khan was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par (2025).
The Race franchise commenced in 2008, with Abbas-Mustan helming direction for the film that starred Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, Akshaye Khanna and Bipasha Basu in the lead. While Saif and Abbas-Mustan returned for Race 2 in 2012, the rest of the leading cast had new entrants like Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, and John Abraham. Both of these films were huge hits.
However, Race 3, starring Bobby Deol, Saqib Saleem, and Daisy Shah alongside Salman, was a major box office disappointment and also received negative reviews across the board.
