On Friday, Prime Video unveiled the trailer of its upcoming movie, Babita Singh Reporting. Starring Nimisha Sajayan in the lead role, the film is set for premiere on August 28.
With Sudip Sharma on board as executive producer, the thriller promises to tell the story of its titular protagonist Babita, a mild-mannered cop who is suspended for 2 weeks. However, Babita is compelled to unofficially get back to work after her old school friend Bansi artist (Barun Sobti) is murdered. While she attempts to investigate and get to the bottom of the murder case, her own circumstances (including a conservative family and a distant husband) stop her from diving in deep, eventually forcing her to confront some of her own personal truths.
Written by Amita Vyas, Babita Singh Reporting is directed by debutant Ambiecka Pandit. Ambiecka said about her film, “I wanted the mystery and emotion to move together, while keeping the storytelling grounded and engaging. The film also reflects the realities many women navigate—having their emotions dismissed, constantly adjusting, and struggling to be heard.”
Nimisha, who plays the lead role, shared, “Baby is one of those characters that has stayed with me and, in many ways, changed me as a person. Playing her made me look inward and rethink the relationships in my own life — how I show up in them, what I expect from them, and how often we adjust without even realising it.”
Besides Nimisha and Barun Sobti, the film also features Anshumaan Pushkar, who plays Babita’s husband, Rajesh Kumar, and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan.
Produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra, and Tina Tharwani under the banner of Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three, Babita Singh Reporting will premiere on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles on August 28.
