Pritam and Pedro, which marked Rajkumar Hirani's web series debut, has set a record about a month after its premiere on JioHotstar. It has become the most-watched web series in India of 2026 so far, according to Ormax OTT Content Insights. Starring Vir Hirani and Arshad Warsi, the series has garnered 23 million unique viewers, a figure that is expected to go up to 27 million soon.
After its premiere, Pritam and Pedro has become the biggest series in the history of JioHostar, with the biggest opener ever for a scripted show on the streamer.
This achievement adds to the successful track of Rajkumar Hirani, a filmmaker with no flop in his career so far. The filmmaker earned critical acclaim and commercial success for his first two films Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
And while his subsequent films, 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, and Dunki have their detractors, they all achieved commercial success at the box office. His most criticised film may be Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, but Hirani said in 2023 that the film proved profitable at the global box office. While several reports called it a flop at the time of its release, Dunki reportedly earned more than 450 crore from theatres worldwide against a budget of 120 crore.
Coming back to Pritam and Pedro, the series follows the titular characters, who are "distinct as night and day, but togethery they laugh every problem away. It's a battle of data versus danda, but a kahani of fun and chaos," as per the official logline on JioHotstar. The story blends elements of crime, comedy, and thriller.
The series has six episodes, with each episode clocking in at around 35 minutes.
