Actor Siddharth, who is known for giving his honest opinion on issues relating to the social or political environment in the country, recently spoke about why celebrities dodge answering questions on burning issues.
While promoting his upcoming series, Operation Safed Sagar, Siddharth explained how any opinion an artiste expresses, he is bound to face criticism.
He said, "I write any four things. A) Sonam Wangchuk is a great man. B) Sonam Wangchuk is not a great man. C) Students have a right to protest. D) Students don't have a right to protest. Whatever I write, I am going to get criticised on social media.”
The Rang De Basanti (2006) actor further advised netizens, "Stop hating artistes," and continued, "Before you give feedback on their work, if you judge them by their opinions, it’s not correct.”
In a previous interview with Showsha, when Siddharth was asked whether his opinions have led him to lose out on work, he had turned the question back on the media.
“In 2026, if there’s anybody in the world who I would like to ask, ‘Does being vocal come at a cost?’ It would be the Indian media. So, I think you have the answer to your question.”
The actor also added that he has never sought anyone’s approval before expressing his opinions. “I didn’t need anyone’s permission when I started speaking. I don’t need anyone’s permission to continue speaking,” he said.
His series Operation Safed Sagar chronicles the Indian Air Force's titular campaign during the Kargil conflict, and follows the Golden Arrows Squadron as it undertakes high-altitude combat missions while also exploring the personal lives of the officers and their families.
