Recently, a reel went viral where popular 90s actor Rahul Roy could be seen dancing at public events to some of his popular songs from the 90s like ‘Tere Dar Par Sanam.’ The viral reel drew all sorts of reactions, including concern from the fans and trolling from some naysayers who decide to reference the reel as a cautionary tale about fading nature of stardom. However, on Thursday, Rahul Roy shared a poignant but hard hitting note, silencing his critics while also throwing light on his health situation and some legal obstacles.
Taking to his Instagram page, he wrote, “I do my work with honesty and modesty. I have some legal matters to pay for, and these are not from today. They are from before the brain stroke happened.”
Confronting the naysayers, Rahul added, “ If you mock by simplicity or make fun of my struggles, if says less about me and more about you. If you are truly concerned, then help me find genuine and decent work so I can pay for my cases. At least I am earning through hard work, not by mocking others.”
The actor also clarified how his health condition has made it more important for him to stay physically alive. He added, “ And after the brain stroke, it is important for me to stay active. I want to work for as long as I am alive. It keeps my mind active and gives me sense of purpose and responsibility that I am still working today. Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes. But you cannot break me.”
Rahul Roy’s post drew a lot of attention from industry members like Farah Khan, Sonu Sood and Archana Puran Singh. Farah commented under his post, “Good luck to you Rahul. While Sonu replied, “Keep rocking brother.”
Other film personalities who expressed their support to Rahul include Triptii Dimri, Anupam Kher.
Rahul Roy, who became an overnight star with Aashiqui (1990), saw his career gradually have a decline till the late 90s. The actor made a brief return to fame with his appearance in the reality show Bigg Boss. However, his on-screen work as an actor remained limited.
Rahul was recently seen in Kanu Behl’s film Agra, which began streaming on Prime Video after a limited theatrical release.
