In October last year, we reported about Akshay Kumar revealing a shocking experience of his daughter during what seemed like a harmless online game session. Speaking as part of cyber crime awareness, Akshay revealed that a person made a dangerous approach towards his daughter.
The superstar said, "I want to talk to you about a recent incident that happened with my daughter. She was spending time online playing a video game at home. You can play certain games on the internet with someone you do not even know. The person she played with asked her where she is from, and she said 'Mumbai'. Everything seemed normal, and the other user even complimented her gaming."
The actor added, "Then, she received a message asking her to confirm her sex. When she confirmed that she is a female, the person asked for her nude pictures. She turned it off and told about it to my wife (Twinkle Khanna). I am grateful that she did so because this is how such things start."
Now, the Maharashtra Cyber department has stated that they have taken quick action in the cyber harassment case following Akshay's daughter's complaint.
Following the incident, the Maharashtra Cyber Department had organised an awareness session at the R.D. National College in Mumbai. The session was based on alerting the students about the dark side of social media today. It helped in spreading awareness about how to stay safe and if something similar happens how to deal with it.
During the session, speaking about the case, Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra Cyber department said, “He (Akshay Kumar) had a very shocking story to share with us. He said that his own daughter was being sextorted. The girl was very brave and informed her parents. Through her parents, we received this information, and that is how we handled the case.”
Akshay often talks about socially relevant incidents in public appearances or through his shows. For example, on his show Wheel of Fortune's recent episode, the superstar welcomed one of his close friends and associates to speak about racism against individuals from the Northeast of India.
