Lara Dutta, who is making a big comeback to Hindi cinema with two major projects Welcome to the Jungle and Ramayana, recently opened up about her journey in the film industry in an interview. During the same, Lara acknowledged the support she received from Akshay Kumar, her co-star in her 2003 debut Andaaz.
Produced by Suneil Darshan, Andaaz also marked the debut for Priyanka Chopra. Speaking with ATNCanada, Lara recalled, “Both Priyanka and I were coming in right at the same time. Akshay saw two young girls coming in with stars in their eyes and zero guidance and direction. And he never took advantage of that.”
Further praising the Bhooth Bangla actor for his business acumen, Lata added, “Today, I think he is such an incredibly street-smart person. He knows the business like the back of his hand, he knows what works. So, in that sense, I had a really strong springboard to take off from.” Lara also called Akshay her ‘friend, philosopher, and guide,’ and said she was extremely lucky to have him as her co-star in her debut film.
Akshay and Lara later worked together in several films like Bhagam Bhag, Bellbottom, Chalo Dilli, and Blue among others.
Incidentally, Lara’s comeback project Welcome to The Jungle, is headlined by Akshay Kumar. Additionally, she will be reportedly seen playing Kaikeyi in the much-anticipated Ramayana, which will release in November.
