Director Anurag Kashyap in a recent podcast spoke about his love for Kannada author Vivek Shanbhag’s acclaimed novel Ghachar Ghochar (2015) and stated that he is associated with the film which will be made on the book.
In a conversation with Chalchitra Talks, Anurag was asked by the host to consider making a film on Ghachar Ghochar, to which the director replied, “I don’t want to reveal much now. He (author Vivek Shanbhag) wants that the film adaptation of his book should first be in Kannada and then in Hindi.”
He went on to add, “I can confirm that I am associated with both the versions.”
Anurag, however, didn’t reveal in what capacity he will be involved with the project.
A voracious reader himself, Anurag has many times in the past stated that he has gotten inspired to make films from books. In an interview while promoting his latest Nishaanchi he often mentioned Fyodor Dostoevsky’s seminal novel Crime and Punishment (1866).
Nishaanchi features Aaishvary Thackeray, Monika Panwar, Vedika Pinto, Kumud Mishra and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. The film released in theatres on September 19 and couldn’t impress at the box office. It also got mixed reviews from critics.
