In an exciting North-meets-South crossover, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has been roped in to sing a song for Rishab Shetty’s mythological-epic Kantara: Chapter 1. Diljit had earlier sung the promotional song even for Kalki 2898 AD which was released last year.
The recording of the song for Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to take place on September 12 at YRF Studios in Mumbai. Directed and headlined by Rishab, this highly anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara has already stirred massive curiosity across the country.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is one of Hombale Films’ most ambitious undertakings. The creative team includes music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and production designer Vinesh Banglan, all of whom have shaped the film’s powerful visual and emotional narrative.
Backed by producer Vijay Kiragandur under the Hombale Films banner, Kantara: Chapter 1 transports viewers to the 4th century, exploring the grandeur, culture, and mysticism of an era rarely depicted in Indian cinema.
Hombale Films have curated an extensive war sequence for Kantara: Chapter 1 with national and international specialists, involving over 500 skilled fighters and featuring 3,000 people. This sequence was filmed in an entire town spanning 25 acres on rugged terrain, over a period of 45–50 days, making it one of the biggest sequences in the history of Indian cinema.
The film is set for a multi-lingual release on October 2 in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English, and will be released across the world—except China.
Meanwhile, Diljit was last seen in the Punjabi film, Sardaar Ji 3, which courted a controversy for featuring Pakistani actor Hania Aamir and was not released in India. The film, however, was released internationally. Diljit will be seen next in Border 2 which is set to be released in theatres next year.
