Anurag Kashyap returns to his home-ground of film references, flowery dialogues and gunfire in the trailer of his upcoming crime-comedy Nishaanchi, which was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. The film marks the debut of Aaishvary Thackeray, who stars in it in a double role. It also features Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.
The trailer takes us into the crime and comedy infused world of the Hindi heartland. Aaishvary is the short-tempered, eager-on-the-trigger Babloo Nishaanchi. The actor also plays his mild-mannered twin brother Dabloo. Monika Panwar is in the role of their resilient mother while Vedika plays local nautch girl, Rinkoo, for whom Babloo has hots for. Babloo, Dabloo and Rinku form a criminal trio and they go around looting establishments. In the picture, there is also Ambika chacha (Kumud Mishra), the two-faced brother of Babloo and Dabloo’s, possibly now deceased, father. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub features as Ambika's right-hand man Kamal Ajeeb. The trailer promises regular Kashyapisms: dark comedy, wordplays, film references and a lot of gunfire.
Earlier, talking about the film Anurag had said, “Nishaanchi is my full-on Salim-Javed zone of film; it has the hero, the drama, and the payoff a film must deliver. I spent 69 days on it, and it’s my longest and most elaborate shoot yet.”
Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under the banner of Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films, and directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film is written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Anurag Kashyap. The movie is slated to release in theatres on September 19.
