Shekhar Kapur, the maker of such iconic films as Masoom, Mr India, and The Bandit Queen, discussed on X his recent interaction with an international security officer at the Mumbai airport. The officer hummed a song from his film Masoom, having recognised Shekhar. The filmmaker also revealed that the airport officer told him that there is a lack of such films in Hindi cinema in today's times. When Shekhar asked the officer why the latter felt that way, they said, “They do not make films from the heart anymore. The stories do not mean anything anymore. The songs are meaningless.”

Then, a passenger joined the conversation and hummed a different piece of music from the film, describing it as their favourite. The filmmaker also said that the officer asked him when he would start working on Masoom 2, and he replied, saying, ‘soon’. The director wondered how the officer knew about the sequel to Masoom. “Everyone knows. It’s all over the media,” the officer told him. He also disclosed that the officer urged him to make the film as soon as possible.

“I’d better get on with it,” Shekhar Kapur concluded his post.

Masoom stars Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles. It marked Shekhar's debut.
