Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was the latest to review Aryan Khan's latest series The Bads of Bollywood. The series, which was released on Netflix, continues to be in discussion, even after a month of release, thanks to its engaging screenplay filled with satirical takes on Bollywood and the unseen world behind it, and performances from lead actors. Taking to his X handle, Tharoor said he caught the series when he was battling cold and cough and said that it was "one of the best things" he has ever treated himself to.
Calling it "OTT gold", the politician said he was "left grasping for words of praise." "It takes time to grow on you, but then you’re irresistibly hooked! The writing is sharp, the direction is fearless, and the sheer audacity of this satire is just what Bollywood needed. A genius, often hilarious, sometimes moving, and always unflinching look beyond the glamour, sending up every cinematic cliche with razor-like wit — and a series of insider jokes that let the audience into the act & behind the scenes," he wrote in his note.
Shashi Tharoor also hailed Aryan Khan as a "true storytelling powerhouse," and tagged Shah Rukh Khan, writing a separate note for him. "From one father to another, let me say: you must be so proud!!," he said. Recently, Salman also praised the series, saying that he would rather have Aryan in front of the camera.
Created, co-written and directed by Aryan, The Ba***ds of Bollywood stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Manish Chaudhari, Rajat Bedi, and Gautami Kapoor in pivotal roles. It also features cameos by Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor among others.
Our CE review of the film read, "Aryan isn’t as geeky in his references as Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om (2007) nor as probing in his outlook as Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance (2009). Still, he instills his filmmaking with a meta-memory of actors."
Recently, lead actor Rajat Bedi confirmed that the season 2 of the show is in works.
