Many netizens have been describing Ram Gopal Varma as 'insensitive' and 'inhumane' after the latter compared the situation in Gaza with the Diwali festival here. "In INDIA only one day is DIWALI and in GAZA, every day is DIWALI," the filmmaker wrote on X the other day, referring to the long-running conflict in the territory. Netizens flooded the post with negative comments, criticising the filmmaker for his "lack of compassion" for the victims in the mass deaths in the so-called Gaza war, part of the long-running Israel–Palestine conflict. Reportedly, around 70,000 people have been killed in the Gaza war since its start two years ago.

While most users showed outright criticism of Ram Gopal Varma's post on Gaza and Diwali, others made fun of it, suggesting that he is a likely victim of hacking or that he was not sober at the time of posting the tweet. All India Congress Committee Media Coordinator Harmeet Kaur K wrote, "Shocking to see the filth of your mind.... celebrating our festival of Diwali with genocide, with killing of babies. You are worse than your movies."

On the work front, the filmmaker is currently filming a horror-comedy titled Police Station Mein Bhoot. It reunites the filmmaker with Manoj Bajpayee after films such as Satya, Kaun, and Shool.
