Thamma advance booking: The report of the advance booking ticket sales for Day 1 of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming horror-comedy, Thamma, is out. The film has started the advance booking on an underwhelming note, selling tickets of just over Rs 93.22 lakh.

The film will be released in Hindi and Telugu in 2D, IMAX 2D and 4DX versions. The Hindi 2D version has 7821 shows and has sold tickets of Rs 89 lakh while the Telugu 2D version has managed to sell tickets of Rs 10,849 with 35 shows. The IMAX 2D and 4DX shows for Hindi have sold tickets of Rs 3.46 lakh and Rs 58,270. With block seats, the collection has gone up to Rs 3.72 crore.

Thamma is the next part in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, after Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, Munjya and Stree 2. Thamma has been helmed by Munjya director Aditya Sarpotdar and also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.

Ayushmann addressed the comparison between the film with the Malayalam film, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. “We are high on comedy. Though I enjoyed Lokah, but I also feel that…I was shooting in Allahabad at that time, and it was not released there. So, ours is a more massy film because it penetrates down to the Hindi-speaking markets also. Lokah could be a good induction for certain multiplex audiences towards this thing, but we have a different genesis, different situations, and it’s a different story. But there’s hardly any similarities,” said the actor.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is set to be released in theatres on October 21.
