Former Bollywood actor Zaira Wasim, known for her strong performances in Dangal, Secret Superstar and The Sky is Pink, made her social media return to share a surprise news. She posted a few pictures from her wedding but did not reveal the name or face of her husband. Along with the pictures, she wrote a short caption that read, "Qubool Hai x3." Wearing a bright red outfit, she was seen signing her nikaah papers. In the second image, Zaira and her husband are seen from behind, standing under the night sky as they look up at the moon.
Zaira made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with Dangal, where she played the younger version of wrestler Geeta Phogat. The film, apart from being commercially successful, also won her a National Award for Best Supporting Actor. She later played the lead in Aamir Khan-produced Secret Superstar (2017). The film, which dealt with social issues including feminism, gender equality and domestic violence, was critically acclaimed for her role and story. Later, Zaira acted in The Sky Is Pink in 2019, alongside Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. She played their daughter in the film who was suffering from a severe medical issue. Soon after, she announced her decision to quit acting, saying she wanted to focus on her faith.
In her Facebook post at the time, she had written, "I want to confess that I am not truly happy with this identity, that is, my line of work. For a very long time now, it has felt like I have struggled to become someone else." Noting that the industry "interfered with her relationship with religion," she said, "This field indeed brought a lot of love, support, and appreciation my way, but what it also did was lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of imaan." Since then, she had kept a low profile, only sharing her views and posts on her faith. Her wedding news marks her first major social media update in six years.
