
The Hindi film industry is mourning the passing of actor Pankaj Dheer, best known for playing Karna in BR Chopra's TV series adaptation of Mahabharat. Hema Malini described her "dear friend" Pankaj as "a talented actor who won audience hearts with his portrayal of Karna in Mahabharat." The veteran actor highlighted Pankaj's personal qualities that made him special to her. For Hema Malini, he was "so affectionate, enthusiastic about everything... and so full of life." According to Hema, Pankaj put up "a spunky fight with cancer which he was determined to overcome." She continued, "To me, he was always so supportive, encouraging me in whatever I undertook and always by my side when I needed him. I will miss his constant support and presence in my life. My heart goes out in distress to his dear wife Anita ji who was the light of his life."
On the other hand, Vivek Oberoi said that he is "still trying to process the loss of Pankaj Dheer uncle." Vivek also underscored the close ties between Pankaj and his family. "To us he wasn’t just a legendary actor, he was family. My father and Pankaj uncle shared a beautiful friendship that began on the sets of Soldier, and that bond grew even stronger when Nikiten and I became like brothers." The other day, the industry bid an emotional adieu to Pankaj at his funeral. Mahabharat stars Puneet Issar and Arjun Feroz Khan as well as a tearful Salman Khan attended the function and consoled the late actor's family.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh also paid a tribute to the Mahabharat star. Taking to his Instagram Stories, Riteish wrote, "Dearest Pankaj Dheer sir, your portrayal of Karna in Mahabharata is etched in the hearts of an entire generation. No one appeared more powerful or stronger than you on the battlefield-a testament to the brilliance of your performance. You left us too soon. Rest in peace, Sir."
