Producer Guneet Monga at a podcast interview spoke about who, in her opinion, should direct Gangs of Wasseypur 3, if it is ever made, if Anurag Kashyap isn’t available.
During a conversation with Komal Nahta at his Game Changers podcast, during a rapid fire round, Guneet was asked that if Anurag Kashyap is not available to direct Gangs of Wasseypur 3 who would she choose as a director, Vikramaditya Motwane or Zoya Akhtar? To which Guneet replied, “I think Anurag Kashyap will be happy with Vikramaditya Motwane or this. Vikram has been an integral part of the film’s edits and everything. “ During the promotions of his latest Nishaanchi, Anurag had also said that the film is his answer to everyone who keeps asking him about GOW 3.
“Zoya is my favourite director in the country but for this I think Vikram,” she added.
Anurag though has always evaded questions on the third part of Gangs of Wasseypur. In a previous interview with The Lallantop, when he was asked about the possibility of Gangs of Wasseypur 3, he had said, “It won’t come. I don’t want to make a Gangs of Wasseypur universe. I will probably make a third part when I am incapacitated to do anything else. Then I will announce Gangs of Wasseypur 3 and make lots of money.”
Currently, Guneet is producing a new romantic-comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan under her banner, Sikhya Entertainment and jointly produced with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film is expected to release later this year.
