Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf starrer romantic-comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is going steady at the box office. The Shashank Khaitan directorial opened with Rs 9.25 crore on Thursday, which fell to Rs 5.5 crore the next day. On Saturday, the third day of the film’s release, the collections spiked again to Rs 7.25 crore, as per Sacnilk.com. Its three-day haul now stands at Rs 22 crore.
The film, however, is lagging far behind Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, which released the same day as Sunny Sanskari… The mythological epic has made Rs 162.85 crore in three days in all languages. Its two-day Hindi collection has already surpassed Sunny Sanskari… with Rs 31 crore.
Earlier, talking about the two films clashing at the box office, Varun had told PTI, “Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra is a very big date, two films can really do big business, and they are very different films. I don't know what is the best time (to release a film), I would love to come on a date where no film comes on...” he had said. “Also, how much can you delay it? So, unless you are this very big film, which is made at a budget of Rs 200-300 crores, you can't. We can't dictate terms or we can't find any place. Whatever our distributors felt, Karan (Johar) sir felt, they chose that date. And as actors we are doing our best (to promote the film)," he had added.
Sunny Sanskari… revolves around Sunny (Varun) and Tulsi whose exes: Ananya (Sanya) and Vikram (Rohit) are about to get married. They then decide to crash the wedding and break off the marriage and a comedy of errors ensues.
