The trailer of streaming platform Netflix’s upcoming animated series, Kurukshetra, on the mythological epic of Mahabharata was unveiled on Wednesday. It is conceptualised and created by Anu Sikka and features lyrics written by Gulzar.

The trailer gives a glimpse into its high-octane world featuring glimpses of the battle between Kauravas and Pandavas. The trailer opens with a baritone voiceover that introduces the 18-day battle between all the warriors who fought each other. One scene features Krishna using his powers to stop a major explosion as an intense music plays in the background. Duryodharan, from the Kauravas, declares that he is entitled to the throne of Hastinapur. Meanwhile, the trailer also shows Arjuna from Pandavas side confiding to Krishna his difficulty to participate in a war against his family. Then Krishna explains him as he metamorphoses into a huge avatar. The trailer ends with the voiceover declaring, “The end is your final destiny. Below is the earth. Above are the stars.”

Kurukshetra is conceptualised and created by Anu Sikka who also serves as the producer along with Alok Jain and Ajith Andhare. It is written and directed by Ujaan Ganguly with Kaushik Ganguly credited as series director. The show’s animation is done by HiTech Animation and it features music by Simaab Sen.

The show is set to be released in 18 episodes for the 18 days of the war. It will premiere on Netflix on October 10 and can be streamed in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai and Indonesian languages.
