Actor Raashii Khanna has credits across languages, including films in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. She recently spoke about the challenge of mastering dialogues in all these languages for her films. "I know Telugu very well. I know Tamil also," she said in a recent conversation with Cyrus Broacha. The actor went on to add that she has lent her voice for songs in both Telugu and Malayalam. For the uninitiated, Raashii sang the title track in Villain, her Malayalam film, also starring Mohanlal and Vishal. Speaking about getting into a different industry from Delhi, with a Punjabi background, Raashi said, "I was also scared of languages initially when I started out with Telugu. One of my best friends was a Telugu girl, so I called her home, sat with her and learnt the lines."
The actor suggested that it is possible to learn a new language by respecting it, which also means giving respect to your co-workers and the audience. "I thought it was the basic thing that I need to do. I have worked very hard to learn it. It has not come easy to me," Raashii said. The actor also stated that she could handle a discussion with a Telugu actor with ease.
"I have done podcasts in Telugu," Raashii revealed before adding that she did a show in which she played a Punjabi police officer. "In my home, we all talk in Hindi mostly. I have heard people talk in Punjabi from my childhood onwards, but I do not have conversational skills in it," she disclosed. She added that her father helped her with the Punjabi lines for the show.
