President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, and West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee were among those to mourn the death of act Dharmendra Deol.

Dharmendra, fondly called the 'He-Man of India', passed away at the age of 89. The actor had a stellar career over the course of 70 years, having been part of films like Sholay (1975) and Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973).

The actor is survived by Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, his first and second wives, Sunny and Bobby Deol, his sons, Esha and Ahaana Deol, and Ajeita and Vijeita, his daughters.

Taking to his X handle, Prime Minister Modi wrote, "The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played." He also mentioned that warmth and humility that Dharmendra exuded, and marked about the diverse roles that remained with people.

President Murmu took to X, and mentioned the towering achievements that Dharmendra achieved. She also wrote, "As a towering figure of Indian cinema, he leaves behind a legacy which will continue to inspire young generations of artists. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers."

After conveying his condolences to the family and friends, Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that his passing is an irreparable loss to the world of cinema.

Minister Gadkari wrote, "His timeless performances, humility, and magnetic presence shaped generations of film lovers and artists alike. India has lost a true icon whose legacy will endure forever."

West bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, wrote, "Deeply saddened by the demise of the legendary actor-hero Dharmendra ji today in Mumbai. His immense contribution to Indian cinema will continue to inspire generations."

She conveyed her condolences to the family of Dharmendra.
