Shooting intimacy scenes for films and series can be tricky. Although now the practice of hiring intimacy coordinators is picking up, still the whole exercise can be unintentionally uncomfortable for the actors involved. Actor Girija Oak, however, recently shared a positive experience she had while filming an intimate scene with Gulshan Devaiah for an upcoming web series called Therapy Sherapy. Praising the actor, Girija said that Gulshan made her very comfortable while filming a scene.
“No matter how much you plan or discuss beforehand, there are very few people with whom you don’t feel even a milligram of discomfort. Gulshan is one of them,” she said in a conversation with The Lallantop.
“It was a sequence where the husband and wife make love like it’s just another job — like doing laundry or paying bills. There’s no passion, no emotion, just routine. We were wearing full clothes; there was no nudity. It was more about the emotional disconnect than the act itself,” she added.
“From his vanity van, he brought three to four types of pillows — one small, one big and fluffy, another stiff. He placed them in front of me and said, ‘Look, which one will be comfortable for you?’ We tried them and chose one that felt right. During the scene, he must have asked me at least 16 or 17 times, ‘Are you okay?’” the actor further explained.
She also revealed that Gulshan made her feel completely safe while filming the scene. “This could have been a very difficult situation for someone else, but it was only because it was Gulshan that I felt so comfortable. I can even talk about it openly now because he made me feel that safe. It’s just amazing that he’s that kind of person,” she said.
Girija is an actor who has done work in both Hindi and Marathi industries. She is known for her work in films like Taare Zameen Par (2007), Qala (2022), Jawan (2023) and most recently Inspector Zende (2025). Gulshan, on the other hand, is known for films like Shaitan (2011), Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018) and most recently Kantara: Chapter 1.
