Farah Khan and Ananya Panday appeared on the latest episode of Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s celebrity talk show, Two Much. During the interaction between the four, a fun banter broke out about Gen Z where Ananya defended the generation while Farah and Twinkle made fun of her.
During the episode, the group played a game in which they had to agree or disagree with a statement. Ananya disagreed with the prompt which was read out by Twinkle that said, “Gen Z needs Google Maps to walk down their own street.” Ananya said, “Gen Z knows a lot more than what people give them credit for.” Farah chimed in, saying, “What do they know? They know about sourdough and all that.”
Ananya explained, “They are very in touch with their emotions. They are the first generation that is talking about feelings. They are the first generation who are embracing mental health and freedom of expression.” Twinkle added, “They are traumatised by everything.” Farah also said, “They are expressing it a bit too much. Even to get out of something is a mental health issue.”
During the episode, the conversation also moved towards how social media following has become a factor when actors are casted for a project. Ananya was the only one who agreed with the statement while Kajol, Farah and Twinkle disagreed. Ananya said, “I don’t think it decides all the casting but I have heard people say, ‘Oh, this person has lots of following, let’s take them.’”
Farah gave an example of Ananya’s cousin Ahaan and how staying away from social media worked for him before the release of Saiyaara. “With Ahaan, the opposite happened. He was told not to go on social media till the film releases,” Farah said and went on to make a teasing comment for Ananya as she added, “Just because you lost a role to an influencer…”
