Amidst the ongoing controversy around Deepika Padukone’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit owing to her alleged demand of eight-hour workday, among other things, actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol have given their two cents on work hours in the film industry.
During the trailer launch of Kajol's upcoming film Maa, Ajay was asked if the eight-hours shift clause is going down well with Hindi filmmakers, to which he responded saying, "It's not that it's not going down well with people. Most honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hours shifts."
Kajol, who is a mother of two kids Nysa and Yug, gave a light reply. "I love the fact that you can work less," she said. Both actors, however, didn’t take any names. It should be noted that Ajay has shared screen space with Deepika in Singham Again (2024).
It was recently reported that Deepika has stepped out of Prabhas-starrer Spirit because her demands of not working beyond eight hours a day and being paid extra for the shoot if it goes beyond 100 days didn’t sit well with Sandeep. After Deepika left the project, the makers signed Triptii Dimri for the film. Sandeep later took to X and without naming Deepika, accused a certain actor of “unprofessionalism”, “putting down a younger actor” and “playing dirty PR games.”
Ajay is producing the Kajol-headliner Maa which is directed by Vishal Furia.
