The first song, ‘Good For Nothing’, from Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. It is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and features vocals by Shankar Mahadevan and Amitabh.
In the music video of the song, Aamir wakes up from the tick of his alarm clock as the vocals by Shankar begin. Aamir gets ready and leaves to give basketball training to kids. The lyrics seem to be an extension of Aamir’s popular song, ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), having a quirky flavour and a mix of Hindi and English. Aamir is teaching them how to dribble the ball in the court, as he is also seen running alongside them during a warm-up session. The music has an upbeat feeling with Neil Mukherjee adding a refreshing quality to the guitar strings. The music video ends with one of the kids spinning the basketball on his fingertip as everyone else sheds their curious glances.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, and has been directed by RS Prasanna with the screenplay written by Laapataa Ladies and additional dialogue writer Divynidhi Sharma. An official remake of the Spanish film, Champions (2018), it also features Genelia D’Souza and ten debutant actors who play the kids, namely Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
Sitaare Zameen Par is slated to release in theatres on June 20.
