Sonakshi Sinha confirms Dahaad season 2, teases her return to series
The other day, we reported about Prime Video renewing its critically acclaimed crime thriller Dahaad for a second season. Now, its lead stars Sonakshi Sinha and Gulshan Devaiah both confirmed the news through their Instagram accounts, hinting at their return to the intense world of law enforcement in Rajasthan.
Sonakshi Sinha expressed her excitement, saying, "Finally!!! Can’t wait to get back in that uniform." She tagged the series' creators Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, along with the streaming platform. On the other hand, Gulshan Devaiah playfully alluded to his police role, commenting, "Now... where did I keep that uniform?"
Dahaad premiered on Prime Video in May 2023, achieving the distinction of being the first Indian streaming series to debut at the Berlin International Film Festival. The series, directed by Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, garnered praise for its gripping storyline, powerful performances, and sociopolitical undertones.
Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan, the first season of Dahaad centres on two local police officers (Sonakshi and Gulshan), as they investigates a series of 27 disappearances involving women. The narrative is loosely inspired by the real-life crimes of serial killer Mohan Kumar, infamously known as Cyanide Mohan, who deceived women into marriage before murdering them. Vijay Varma delivered a chilling portrayal of the antagonist, with Sohum Shah also playing a significant supporting role. While the complete cast for the second season has not yet been formally revealed, initial reports suggest the original principal cast will return.
Reports indicate that script development for the new season is currently in progress, with the creators reportedly planning a more expansive scale for the sequel, building upon the show's significant success.
