After being banned from social media platforms in India, Pakistani artists also seem to be getting removed from released films’ assets. It was noticed on Monday that the album cover of Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), starring Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane, now only features the former.

Earlier it was reported that Mawra has been dropped from the film’s sequel following her comments on social media post India’s strike against terrorist camps in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor. Harshvardhan too had claimed that he will not work in the sequel if Mawra is part of the film. Now, only Harshvardhan can be seen in the film’s album cover. As per a report in Hindustan Times, the film’s producer Deepak Mukut claims he had no knowledge about it: “They didn’t ask me; it’s their decision. Whatever our government says, everyone has to follow.”

Harshvardhan added, “Now they will say that my PR team got this done! No, it's again common sense, I assume; weeding is being exercised.”

The song ‘Zaalima’ from Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistani actor Mahira Khan’s 2017 film Raees has also undergone the same fate. Its album cover across YouTube, YouTube Music and Spotify has no trace of Mahira and features SRK solo.

Sanam Teri Kasam was recently re-released and found a new audience. This response led its sequel to be green-lit.
