The teaser of Roshan Mathew and Mohit Raina starrer psychological-thriller series KanKhajura was unveiled by the makers on Friday. The show, directed by Chandan Arora, is the Indian adaptation of the Israeli series Magpie.
Roshan plays Ashu, a meek, stammering guy, who is ridiculed by everyone. But he is not as innocent as he seems. The teaser gives a glimpse of how Ashu manipulates everyone around him to get what he wants.
Talking about the character, Roshan said, "What drew me to KanKhajura was its emotional intensity and the stillness beneath the chaos. Ashu is a deeply layered character, fragile in moments, but with a quiet storm within.”
“The story is heartwarming and haunting. Every relationship in the show is cracked in some way, and it’s how these characters act on those flaws that makes it so much fun to explore,” he added.
The series also stars Sarah Jane Dias, Mahesh Shetty, Ninad Kamat, Trinetra Haldar, Heeba Shah, and Usha Nadkarni.
The Israeli show Magpie tells the story of Asa Katz, a man serving 17 years in prison for murder who gets released early on the condition that he cooperates with the police as their informant – a role (known as a magpie) that he also had in jail. He returns to his old neighbourhood and his older brother, David, who has little regard for his younger sibling. Asa constantly tries to resolve this, but numerous conflicting interests put him in precarious situations, and he finds himself torn between his life of crime and his work with the police while navigating both worlds to his advantage.
KanKhajura will start streaming on SonyLIV from May 30.
