The first look of R Madhavan and Ananya Panday from the historical-drama Kesari- Chapter 2 was unveiled by the makers on Friday. The film is headlined by Akshay Kumar, who plays the role of lawyer C Sankaran Nair. It is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, making his Bollywood debut.
Madhavan plays a lawyer, Neville Mckinley, who is fighting for the British empire against Akshay’s character. Sharing his poster, the makers wrote, “Sharp, fearless, undeniable… but playing for the other side! Introducing R. Madhavan as Neville Mckinley in Kesari - Chapter 2.”
Ananya plays Dilreet Gill and plays a lawyer too. She is wearing a white sari in the poster, donning a firm look. The caption to the post read, “Embraced by compassion, fueled by justice. Introducing Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill in Kesari - Chapter 2.”
The film is adapted from the book 'The Case That Shook The Empire', written by Pushpa Palat and Raghu Palat. It is a spiritual successor to the 2019 film Kesari, which also starred Akshay in the lead and told the story of the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers fought against an army of 10,000 troops.
Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari, Kesari Chapter 2 will be released in theatres on April 18.
